4 REASONS WHY CROSSFIT HAS BECOME SO POPULAR
Here are a few of the reasons why CrossFit has become so popular over the last several years:
1. VARIETY
When you first start CrossFit, the number of movements and lifts you learn as a beginner can be overwhelming. But if you stick with the learning process, the result is plenty of variety in your workouts. If you’re used to the same machines and workout routines, CrossFit is a welcome wake-up call. As you learn and improve, the process is anything but boring. Walking into the gym and anticipating what the workout will be that day is a feeling that keeps people coming back for more.
2. IMPROVED FITNESS AND PERFORMANCE
Waking up and heading out the door for a run around your neighborhood is a common form of exercise. And you’ll build aerobic endurance through your daily running workouts. But what about the other elements of a well-rounded fitness program? CrossFit allows you to improve not only your endurance, but also your strength, power, agility, stamina, and every other aspect of a well-rounded workout program. You feel yourself getting stronger and moving better. And that feeling is just another reason why CrossFit has become so popular.
3. THE CHALLENGE
CrossFit is known for its intensity. And working at new intensity levels challenges you. But rather than meeting this challenge and letting it deter you from continuing with CrossFit, the intensity is another element that draws people in. While some people choose to compete in CrossFit, it all comes down to you against yourself. How much can you push yourself to improve on what you did in the past? You’ll probably surprise yourself and find that you’re capable of so much more than you ever imagined.
4. SENSE OF COMMUNITY
The people you meet in the CrossFit community are one of the biggest reasons why it has become so popular. Every person who does CrossFit has personal fitness and performance goals. And yet, one thing that makes CrossFit unique is everyone does the same workout written on the whiteboard – together. Some people will scale or modify the WOD, but even with scaling, everyone who shows up is working toward a common goal. You show up, you challenge yourself to work hard, and you encourage and support the person who’s sweating next to you. The group support you get in a CrossFit workout creates a strong sense of community.
