With so many diets to choose from, it’s easy to get caught up in the promises and claims of each. While one diet may work for one individual, another person may not have the same experience.

When it comes to how and what we eat, there is no such thing as one size fits all. We’re all unique, which means our bodies will react differently to the exact same diet.

So what’s the alternative? Rather than following a popular diet craze, you can shift your focus to eating whole, nutritious foods as much as possible.

Here are a few tips for the “eat real food” meal plan:

1. KEEP IT FLEXIBLE.

Some diet plans don’t work well for people because they seem too restrictive. If you’re trying to clean up your diet, you might have to be more strict and disciplined with your eating habits. However, you will be more successful if you can maintain some flexibility in your meal plan. Rather than counting calories throughout the day, set guidelines for yourself like:

Avoid processed food.
Limit or eliminate sugary treats.

2. MAKE IT UNIQUE.

Remember, when it comes to food and how our bodies react, we are all unique. So consider what your body needs and what that means for your daily nutritional intake. It can help you learn the number of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins you should consume each day. A nutritionist or nutritional specialist can help you figure out those specific numbers. At the same time, they can also help you figure out the proper amount of daily fruits, vegetables, proteins, and whole grains you should consume.

3. KEEP IT SUSTAINABLE.

An energy bar for breakfast, a handful of popcorn at lunch, and then a few slices of pizza for dinner might get you through the day. But is it sustainable? It’s easy and convenient, but it’s probably not the best meal plan for sustainable health and wellness. Food is fuel. The more often you fuel your body with wholesome, nutritious foods, the more likely you will keep your energy level, mood, and motivation running high throughout your day.

Fueling your body for your workouts is just as crucial to your overall health as your workouts themselves. At Systems Training Center, our mission is to help people achieve internal and external transformations through fitness, martial arts, and nutrition.
