Martial arts changes kids’ lives. And after spending time training martial arts, kids can use what they have learned in other areas of their lives.

Here are a few of the positive effects that martial arts has on kids:

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Exercise is essential for all ages, and martial arts can be a great workout. Plus, moving provides a much-needed outlet for kids. Also, the good physical activity habits you build as a child translates into being a healthy and active adult.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Learning martial arts skills is as much of a mental workout as a physical one. When you learn a new skill or technique, connecting that new information to what you have already learned is an important critical thinking skill both on and off the mats.

DISCIPLINE

The martial arts class structure teaches kids how to be more disciplined. Kids are expected to respect their instructor and other kids while staying calm and focused throughout a class. With practice, kids can learn how to improve their focus and discipline in various situations.

GOAL SETTING

Learning how to set appropriate goals gives kids a way to measure their progress. Working toward their next big achievement can be a significant source of motivation, especially when applied to areas of life extending beyond martial arts.

SOCIAL SKILLS

By sharing an interest in martial arts, kids can learn and experience something new with kids from all different backgrounds. Over time, kids bond and create lasting friendships.

SELF-DEFENSE

Martial arts teaches kids self-defense skills. But it also shows kids how to respond to a confrontation with confidence and even diffuse a potentially unfriendly situation without any aggression or physical contact.

At Systems Training Center, we offer a kid’s martial arts program for ages 4–12. Classes include Kids MMA, Kids Kickboxing, Gi Jiu-Jitsu, and No Gi Jiu-Jitsu. To learn more, contact us today.
